🚨 UPDATE: My Devastation from Helena - Our community is still chainsawing out.

I have been quiet for the past week or so because our community has been devastated by Helena. I live 300 miles from the coast; however, the left eyewall destroyed homes, businesses, and lives in many counties in GA and SC. This is the worst storm damage the Central Savannah River Area (GA/SC state lines) has ever had!

Over 40 trees were downed by the storm on our acre-and-a-half lot. Praise God, not one tree hit our house! Many other friends and family are trying desperately to remove trees from their homes and tarp the roofs if possible. Most trees that were uprooted were very large, tall trees that required cranes to remove them.

It took us 4 days to get power back; however, we are unique. Many friends who live near me are being told it will be up to 5 weeks until their power is restored. Most power poles were snapped in half by over 12 tornados and 100 mph hurricane winds. The hurricane was a category 1, transitioning into a tropical storm over our communities.

The trees have finally been cleared enough that we can drive into town safely, and stores are starting to sell supplies again.

I finally got internet this morning, and I noticed my cell service has more than one bar now!

Please lift up our community in prayer. We have witnessed so many near-misses through this tragic event that God intervened and caused people to move to a new location for their protection. Why it had to happen, I do not understand, but I do know that God's Spirit is with us in times of morning, pain, and suffering. He loves us and has a purpose for all of this that I will probably never understand on this side of eternity.

What We Ate As Our Freezer Thawed

I was thankful that I had recently made several freezer meals from the leftovers of recent recipe posts on my site. As they thawed, I could reheat them on the gas stove in a pan. The comfort of a home-cooked meal in the wake of tragedy was so nice.

I had leftover Terimisue, but I have not written the post yet, so keep an eye out for that one, hopefully soon!

Here are the frozen soups:

Free Thankful Printable For You In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, it's hard to find words for the devastation in Augusta and surrounding counties. Homes have been shattered, and eerily landscapes forever changed. I am trying to remind myself, yet even in moments like these, God invites us into a posture of thankfulnessβ€”because He remains our refuge. Scripture reminds us, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good" (Romans 8:28, ESV). As our area enters the...

Hello Reader, Our Family's Easy Homemade Mustard Our family enjoys condements, maybe a little too much! It was a joke that when one of our kids were fussy at a restaurant, "Just dip their pacifier in ketchup." Worked like a charm and kept me sane. ;) Ketchup is a little labor-intensive to make homemade. So, to start teaching my kids to make condiments, we first made homemade mustard. It only takes a few minutes to whip it together See Recipe Get More Delicious and Easy To Make Recipes >>> For...
